The GLC class from Mercedes is everything you would expect a mid-size SUV from one of the most prestigious automobile manufacturers in the world. The SLC is distinctive looking both inside and out. There is no mistaking this vehicle for anything else. It has that classic Benz attention to detail throughout every detail.
The GLC sits on 18” run flat tires with 5 spoke alloy wheels. Deep tinted glass is standard for privacy, temperature control and sleek styling appeal. The chrome grille and lip spoiler all add the classy look of the vehicle. There's a power lift gate for rear cargo access to one of the most practical cargo spaces available in similar SUVs.
The wipers have automatic rain detection with heated jets. The headlights are fully automatic with daytime running lamps with Delay-Off. The rear of the car is not neglected with rear fog lights standard and LED brake lights.
Front bucket seats come with 8 way controls, and the driver side has adjustable memory controls so if you share the pleasure of driving this car, there's no fidgeting and readjusting when it's your turn. The SLC will put you back in the driver seat comfortably and quickly. Rear seats are 40/20/40 split for ease of use. The SLC seats 5 in comfort and luxury.
The driver is well taken care of in the cockpit of the GLC, you'll feel like a king (or queen) driving this beauty. There is a footrest, leather gear shift knob, and a leather steering wheel so you won't mind be the designated driver in any situation.
There are four 12 volt outlets for everyone's tech gadgets and smart device integration to help keep the kids quiet on longer trips. There are touchpad controls on the dash, internet access, Bluetooth wireless and CD-DVD radio with wireless antennae so everyone can stay connected.
Under the Hood
The GLC comes with only one option in the engine department for now. The 2.0 liter 4 liter turbo produces 241 hp. It does lack in the power department and is very responsive. The EPA estimates 24mpg which isn't half bad for an SUV.
The trans is a 9 speed automatic and either RWD or AWD versions are available. Shifting is reported to be smoother than expected for a transmission with this many gears, but if you feel the need, there are manual paddle shifters available.
A plug-in hybrid and AMG version are promised soon to enhance the line-up and there may be a diesel version in the works as well.
The price tag for the AWD model starts at $40,950 MSRP and the RWD comes in at MSRP $38950. A well equipped model can run over $54000 MSRP. The GLC runs a bit more expensive than some of its counterparts.
