Ever since the introduction at Chicago Auto Show last year, the 2016 Ford F-150 almost instantly became a sensation among truck lovers. While the trucking community has historically been on a stand still when it comes down to choosing from Ford F-150, Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado, this all new F-150 has definitely given Ford the competitive edge it has been so desperately seeking.

Exterior

First thing you’re probably going to notice is the Ford F-150’s trademark huge grill. This gigantic vehicle is surprisingly light weight, thanks to ultra-lightweight, all-aluminium body. There are six trims which makes it a little difficult to compare these trucks’ exterior side by side. But broadly put, LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, tailgate release and power running boards are few of many goodies in these bad boys.

Interior

Surprisingly luxurious finish inside with plenty of rooms and loads of power outlets throughout the cabin. The infotainment console has been tremendously upgraded. SYNC 3 has received glowing reviews from customers and performs far better than the previous version - MyFord. The new SYNC 3 comes with better touch responsiveness, improved voice recognition and noticeable speed. You also have the option to choose between regular-cab and super-cab. The aluminium body however, made the ride a bit bumpy other than that – a solid workhorse.

Under the Hood

Ford doesn't disappoint under the hood, and this all new 2016 Ford F-150 is no exception. With six trims and four engine choices - you have plenty to choose from. The base option comes with a 3.5L V-6 at 283 horsepower, the next step is a 2.7L turbo V-6 at 235 horsepower with 8,500 pounds of towing power. The top of the line engine options are 5.0L V-8 with 385 horsepower and the twin-turbo 3.5L V-6 at 365 horsepower with a whopping 12,200 pounds towing power. 4x4 isn't standard and all four engines come with six-speed automatic transmission. 23 gallon fuel tank provides decent range and mileage will widely vary from one engine to another. Roughly put, it can be anywhere from 18 MPG (CITY) to 25 MPG (HWY). Most owners across the board reporting 20 MPG combined.

Price

The base price is fairly reasonable at only $26,430 MSRP. But let’s face it, not a lot of folks will buy a Ford F-150 on the base model and they will most likely purchase several packages along the way. A halfway decent equipped truck will cost you around $30,000 and the fully loaded top-trim can cost you as much as sixty grand. You know how it works with trucks, don’t you?
