Those who are familiar with Cadillac's range of big vehicles know that they're pretty truck-like. The Escalade, while a hot seller, isn't all that forgiving on the road and its handling does take some time to get used to. This is especially true for those who haven't been behind the wheel of a large vehicle or SUV before. However, this is no longer the case with the SRX. It's in a completely different league to the Escalade and novice drivers couldn't be happier.

Exterior

The Cadillac SRX isn't exactly a head turner when it comes to its design. It sticks with a conventional crossover SUV shape and this body is complimented with the typical Cadillac assortment of angles and curves. It comes as stock with the “Art and Science” styling which includes premium paintwork and a more residual holographic effect, but the theme here is a bit more subtle in comparison to some other vehicles in the Cadillac range. In fact, it finds its visual home within more stock vehicles produced by the common names in SUV crossovers: Audi and BMW being pretty typical comparisons.

Interior

The traditional stitched leather trim has found its way into the SRX and it's been a well-received feature, with drivers finding the seating to be extremely comfortable for longer hauls. This is complimented by a large touchscreen, on board navigation, and other modern features that are becoming stock in premium vehicles.

Under the Hood

Powered by a 308 horsepower, V6 engine, the Cadillac SRX is capable of reaching 60 miles per hour within seven seconds. Despite the peppy speed, drivers do still need to remember that they're driving a big vehicle. It is still very much a SUV that requires meticulous driving due to its substantial 4,500-pound curb weight. However, it is far lighter in comparison to other vehicles within its class.

Price

The base model of the Cadillac SRX is priced at MSRP $37,605 and rises to just over MSRP $48,000 for its fully-upgraded premium package. Expect to throw another ten to fifteen grand for all the bells and whistles.
